{"id":4309,"date":"2024-09-27T11:58:46","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T06:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/?p=4309"},"modified":"2025-03-05T13:40:55","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T08:40:55","slug":"new-photos-leopard-in-mangistau-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/en\/2024\/09\/27\/new-photos-leopard-in-mangistau-region\/","title":{"rendered":"New photos of leopard taken in Mangistau region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"translation-block\">In 2024, the implementation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/en\/projects-and-plans\/study-and-protection-of-large-cats\/\" target=\"_self\">an international cross-border project for the study and protection of the Central Asian leopard<\/a> with the support of grants from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/en\/donors-and-sponsors\/national-geographic\/\" target=\"_self\">National Geographic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/en\/donors-and-sponsors\/segre-foundation \/\" target=\"_self\">the Segr\u00e9 Foundation<\/a> and the participation of Conservation X Labs. The main contractor of the Project in Kazakhstan is the public Foundation \"Center for the Study and Conservation of Biodiversity\" (BRCC) with the participation of the Kazakhstan Association for the Conservation of Biodiversity (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brcc.kz\/en\/partners-and-associates\/association-for-the-conservation-of-biodiversity-of-kazakhstan\/\" target=\"_self\">ACBK<\/a>).<br>\nIn September 2024, employees of the Ustyurt State Nature Reserve (Mangystau region, Kazakhstan), after a long break, checked the camera traps previously installed within the framework of this Project. The main result: for the first time after February 2022, the presence of another male Asian leopard was confirmed in 4 different areas (tracts) of the reserve in the period from January 8 to August 25, 2024. The photo and video materials at our disposal do not yet allow us to individually identify leopards recorded on the territory of the Reserve and the Nature Park. Therefore, considering the distance (about 210 km in a straight line) and relatively short time interval (about 3 weeks), we can assume two variants of events: either the leopard has moved such a
